Typical Presenting Issues:

🌿 When Life Feels Overwhelming, You Don’t Have to Navigate It Alone

Life can shift in ways you never expected, and those changes may feel heavy or confusing. If you’re finding it hard to manage your relationships, responsibilities, or emotions, you’re not alone — and nothing is “wrong” with you for feeling this way.

You may catch yourself thinking you should be stronger or less affected by things, yet the stress still gets under your skin. That doesn’t mean you’re failing; it means you’re human.

💔 When Relationships Feel Strained

Your marriage or partnership may be facing challenges that leave you feeling misunderstood or disconnected. You and your spouse may have grown in different directions, and the needs you each have today may not match the ones you had years ago.

Family expectations and in‑law pressures may be piling up, making it hard to imagine how things could improve. These dynamics can be especially complex when cultural values, traditions, and generational beliefs are involved.

🧡 When Emotions and Intimacy Are Hard to Talk About

You may come from a background where feelings aren’t openly discussed and where topics like sexuality are considered taboo. This can make it incredibly difficult to express what you need — or even to understand those needs yourself.

If you’re experiencing same‑sex attraction, you may struggle to acknowledge it privately, let alone talk about it with someone else. That silence can feel isolating and painful.

🌈 When Identity and Acceptance Feel Complicated

You, or someone you care about, may be lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning — and facing unique challenges because of identity, family expectations, or cultural beliefs. Navigating life as an LGBTQ+ person can take a real emotional toll, especially when acceptance feels uncertain or relationships become strained.

🎭 When You’re Tired of Pretending Everything Is Fine

You may have become an expert at keeping up appearances — smiling, performing, and trying to be “perfect” in every role. But inside, the pressure may be building. The fear of not being enough, of being “found out,” or of disappointing others can create deep anxiety and a sense of being an imposter.

🌱 You Deserve a Safe Space to Be Yourself

Cultural expectations, social pressures, and personal struggles can feel like too much to carry alone. You deserve a place where you can speak freely, feel understood, and explore what you truly need — without judgment, shame, or fear.

If you’re ready to begin that journey, I can help you create a path forward that honors your story, your identity, and your hopes for the future.

You may be facing some of the challenges described above, or you may be struggling with something entirely different. Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to continue suffering in silence.

I understand how overwhelming this can feel, and I’m here to help. Reaching out is the first step toward relief and clarity. When you contact me, we’ll explore your situation together in a non‑judgmental, supportive environment.

My goal is to truly understand what you’re going through, partner with you to set meaningful goals, and collaborate with you at every step so you feel encouraged, respected, and supported throughout the process.

Who We Are:

About You:

You may be an adult — or part of a couple — who knows you want a better life and healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Even if you’ve felt stuck for a while, you’re beginning to sense that you’re ready for positive change.

You’re prepared to invest your time and energy now because you know you deserve a life that feels meaningful, connected, and satisfying.

About Me:

Having grown up in South Asia and spent most of my adult life in the United States — with several years in Latin America — I understand what it’s like to live between cultures. I know how challenging it can feel to navigate different expectations, identities, and values while trying to find your own path.

I am also in an interracial marriage, so I’m familiar with the unique dynamics and pressures that can arise in multicultural relationships.

These experiences shape the compassionate, culturally aware support I offer to adults and couples who are trying to make sense of their own life and, sometimes, cross‑cultural journeys.

The Difference between Coaching and Counseling...

...and why Coaching is not usually covered by Insurance.

Coaching and counseling are two distinct forms of support for personal and professional development.

Coaching

Coaching is a future-oriented process that focuses on goal-setting, performance improvement, and the pursuit of future-oriented solutions. Coaches work alongside clients to identify objectives, break them down into manageable steps, and develop actionable plans to achieve them. Coaching does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions.

Counseling

Counseling, on the other hand, is a therapeutic process that promotes mental and emotional well-being, resolves personal challenges, and fosters self-understanding. It often addresses past experiences, unresolved trauma, and current struggles with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Counseling is regulated by state licensing laws, meaning therapists can only work with clients in the states where they are licensed.

Insurance

Insurance coverage for coaching is not common because it does not address mental health diagnoses or emotional disorders. Insurance typically covers services that are evidence-based and rooted in psychological research, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or psychodynamic therapy. Since coaching does not involve these types of treatments, it is not covered by health insurance plans.

At True Kismet Counseling, my commitment is to help you move toward your true sense of “destiny” — a life and relationships grounded in trust, understanding, and meaningful connection. Together, we will create a path that reflects your goals and values.

There may be moments when difficult emotions surface, and some days may feel heavier than others. That’s a normal part of the healing process. What matters is that you won’t be facing it alone.

When you take the first step and reach out, we begin a collaborative journey. I will listen closely, work with you to set clear goals, and support you at every stage in a non‑judgmental, encouraging environment.

When working with couples, I incorporate Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method to help partners reduce conflict, strengthen communication, and build deeper emotional connection.

Across all my work, my focus is on listening with care, understanding your experience, offering thoughtful reflections, providing education when helpful, and creating a safe, supportive space where positive change can take root.

Pathway to Success

What Will Success Look Like:

What Will Success Look Like:

What Will Success Look Like:

We’ll begin by scheduling an initial session where we take time to understand your current situation and the concerns bringing you to therapy. Together, we’ll identify the goals you want to work toward.

From there, we’ll meet regularly — typically once a week — to focus on those goals. Along the way, we’ll check in on your progress, adjust our approach as needed, and acknowledge the growth you’re making. When you’ve reached your goals, we’ll thoughtfully bring our work to a close.

Most clients remain in therapy for six months to a year, depending on their needs. Coaching clients with more specific, targeted concerns are often seen for three to six months.

Alma

Alma’s core service is making it easier for individuals and families to access therapy—especially affordable, in‑network care.

  • Therapist directory: Alma offers a large, searchable database of licensed therapists, allowing users to filter by specialty (e.g., anxiety, LGBTQIA+, medication management).
  • Insurance integration: Alma emphasizes helping clients use their insurance. People who find care through Alma save an average of 77% on therapy costs by accessing in‑network providers.
  • Better therapist matching: Its directory provides more detailed therapist profiles than typical insurance portals, helping users find a provider who fits their needs and preferences.

In short, Alma simplifies the process of finding a therapist who accepts your insurance and aligns with your goals.

Headway

Sondermind

Headway’s main goal is to make therapy affordable and easy to access by focusing on in‑network care.

  • Find in‑network therapists and psychiatrists — Users enter their insurance information and get matched with providers who accept it.
  • Lower costs — Clients often pay as low as $0 per session, with an average savings of 75% compared to paying out of pocket.
  • Large provider network — Over 65,000 licensed providers across the U.S. are available on the platform.
  • Supports therapy and medication management — Headway includes both therapists and psychiatrists (though medication availability varies by provider).
  • Simple booking and billing — Headway processes all insurance claims and payments so clients don’t have to navigate insurance portals.

Headway is especially useful for people who want in‑network care, prefer transparent pricing, or find insurance directories too difficult to navigate.
