Changes in your life are overwhelming. Life and relationships are difficult to manage.
You may be thinking that you “should” be stronger and not let things bother you so why do they?
Your marriage has a lot of challenges and you and your spouse do not see eye-to-eye. Each of you has changed over the years and your needs are different now.
Family and in-laws' pressures are mounting up and you do not see how things will ever get better.
Feelings and needs are never talked about and forget about sexuality, that is a total taboo subject.
You have same-sex attraction and that is a subject that even you have a tough time acknowledging to yourself let alone talk to anyone else about.
You have become an expert at pretending that everything is great.
Your desire to be perceived as being “perfect” at everything is making you more anxious each day. You feel like an imposter and there is no way out.
You, or someone you know is lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and is presenting with some unique issues because of their sexuality or are not being accepted and treated properly.
Navigating life as an LGBTQ+ person has taken its toll and relationships are suffering.
Cultural and social demands are too much to handle. You need a safe place to talk about the issues, find acceptance and a path forward.
You may be challenged with some of the issues listed above or have some other ones. Bottomline, you do not need to continue to suffer in silence. I understand your predicament and am here to help. Take the first step and contact me and let us see how we can work together in a non-judgmental and encouraging environment where I will try to understand your situation, partner with you in setting goals and collaborate each step of the way so you feel supported.
You are an adult (or a couple) who knows you want a better life and great relationships. You have been stuck but feel that you are ready to make a change for the better. You are ready to invest time and effort now because you know you deserve a more fulfilling life.
Growing up in South Asia as a gay man and living most of my adult life in the United States and some years in Latin America, I understand the challenges of someone caught between two (or more) cultures and/or being part of a minority group. I am in an interracial marriage and understand those challenges as well.
Let me introduce myself
At True Kismet Counseling, I am committed to assisting you with your true “destiny” - a partnership rooted in mutual trust and understanding and a unique journey toward a destination you and I will chart together. There may be days you do not feel too good as difficult emotions surface, but you will trust the process and stick with it. We will be on this journey together to find your destiny of a more fulfilling and meaningful life free of debilitating depression and anxiety.
My approach to therapy is rooted in Positive Psychology, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Psychology. In my couples' work, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman’s Method to help resolve conflicts and establish deeper interpersonal and relational connections. My approach is focused on listening, understanding, reflecting, educating, suggesting, and creating a space where positive change can happen.
We will schedule our initial session and assess your current situation and presenting issues. We will set your goals together. We will meet on a regular basis (typically weekly) and work on those goals. We will see how you are doing and make changes as needed. We will celebrate your successes along the way. We will terminate our work together when your goals are met.
Generally, my clients stay in therapy for at least 6 months to a year. My coaching clients with specific concerns may be seen for 3 to 6 months.
I conduct Telehealth therapy sessions with adults residing in either Minnesota or Florida and coaching sessions with adults residing anywhere in the world.
Cost per Session (45 minutes): $175
Initial Session (60 minutes): $220
Pay By: American Express, Cash, Check, Diners Club, Discover, Flexible Spending Account, Health Savings Account, Mastercard, Visa, Wise App (International Money Transfer App)
Insurance Plans • Out of Network
Note: I am not contracted with any of the insurance panels. Please feel free to ask me if you have a question about that during your free half-hour consultation. However, I am considered an out-of-network therapist and can provide a “superbill” at the end of each month for my therapy clients that they can submit to their insurance company to get partial reimbursement for my services. My coaching clients are not able to bill their insurance since coaching is not covered as a mental health service.
